Chelsea Rise From the Ashes
Manchester United were left shell-shocked after Chelsea snatched a last-minute win on Thursday evening, 4 April.
The Blues hosted their competitors at Stamford Bridge Stadium in London, England, and they were on point from the start. Just four minutes into the match, Chelsea captain Conor Gallagher set an early lead by scoring the first goal.
Midfielder Cole Palmer extended that lead at the 19-minute mark with a penalty, bringing the scoreboard to 2-0.
However, the Red Devils clawed themselves back into the match as forward Alejandro Garnacho earned the first point for his side with some swift footwork in the 34th minute.
Five minutes later, midfielder Bruno Fernandes equalised the scoreboard with help from his teammate, Diogo Dalot, bringing the frantic first half to a close.
Garnacho claimed a third point for his side at the 67th-minute mark, seemingly putting the hosts at a disadvantage and sealing a win for Man United.
Despite the odds, ten minutes into stoppage time after a messy second half, Palmer stabilised the scoreboard once again with a penalty goal, bringing the teams to a 3-3 stalemate. One minute later, the midfielder struck a hat-trick goal and secured his side’s 4-3 win.
The incredible victory gave Chelsea an extra three points and a desperately needed boost in the English Premier League rankings to tenth place.
